University of Hyderabad

The University of Hyderabad (UOH) was established on 2 October 1974 by an act of parliament and recognized as premier institution in the country for providing postgraduate education and conducting research. The University is a Central University and fully funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India. UGC also has recognized University of Hyderabad as ‘Universities with Potential for Excellence’.

The University was sanctioned a grant of Rs. 30 crore for interfacial Studies & Research and Holistic Development for a period of 5 years (2002-2007). The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has given Grade A***** to the University. The National Information System for Science and Technology (NISSAT) rated the University under the ‘High Output – High Impact’ category among the top 50 institutions in India.

Under FIST (Fund for Improvement of Science and Technology) program the Department of Science and Technology (DST) of the Government of India sanctioned over Rupees four crores. Under FIST Program with a total financial support of Rs.24.06 crores 3 Nos. of IBM P690, 32 Power  4 + Processors each were installed in January 2004 and an IBM P595, 48 Power Processor was installed in January 2005. Besides this, 6 IBM Intelli-Workstations have also been installed. The University is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU); and the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU).

The University campus is located near Gachibowli, which is the IT hub of Hyderabad. Its campus is very large, and it is abundant with rich bio-diversity, lakes, and rock formations.
The University has 46 different Departments and Centres organized in 10 Schools of study. It offers as many as 150 different courses leading to the award of  doctoral degrees and masters level degrees. Few post graduate diplomas and short term courses are also offered through distance learning mode.

The contact programs are conducted during the month of August to September . The contact programs are usually held for a period of 10 days at the University Campus where the student will be offered lectures with eminent experts in the subject.

University of Hyderabad CDE Admission Procedure

Admissions to the Distance Education diploma programs are open to all those who fulfill prescribed qualifications. Admissions are made strictly on the basis of merit. NO ENTRANCE EXAMINATION is held for the purpose of admission.

The marks obtained by the applicants in their graduate level examination, in any stream serves as the basis for preparing the merit list for admission all courses. However, additional academic qualifications and professional experience are taken into consideration for all admissions.

The admission announcement in Center for Distance Education, University of Hyderabad (UoH) is released in leading daily newspapers, in October every year.

Only those students who pay the fees within the stipulated date are treated as admitted. Mere receipt of admission offer letter does not entitle any right to claim admission.

Students who do not furnish full information and proof, by attaching ATTESTED (by a gazetted officer or a person holding equivalent rank) XEROX COPIES of certificates, marks sheets and service certificates (clearly showing the number of years of service and the field of work) about their academic/ professional record are liable to be rejected.
